Original Painting: Rogue Poppy

Painting the Alpine Poppies surrounded by the snow covered mountains wasn't easy but so worth it. As I was painting, the petal dropped to the ground before I could finish the flowers. Poppies bloom for a very short amount of time, but I wasn't expecting it to disappear while I was standing there.

“Rogue Poppy” captures that delicate, fleeting moment — a gentle reminder to savor each day.

Original watercolor painting is on 100% cotton handmade deckled paper and has been mounted in an 8x10 wood frame.

This watercolor wildflower painting is part of a healing art collection created outdoors during recovery. As a plein air artist navigating brain injury recovery, painting outdoors brings me peace despite the challenges. This peaceful landscape watercolor is part of that healing journey.

This original painting is from the Alpine Poppy Collection of watercolor paintings that has been years in the making. It all started with painting purely from imagination, picturing bright poppies beneath sunlit mountain peaks before I actually saw and painted the Alpine poppies in real life.

This collection has grown from imagination into reality, a tribute to the resiliency of wildflowers and the meaning poppies hold as symbols of remembrance — especially as Independence Day nears.
